Sally French is an expert in many areas — personal finance, drones, powerlifting and more.

Personal finance

She works full time as a writer for The New York Times’ Wirecutter Money, a new venture by The New York Times to provide personal finance-related product recommendations, tips and tricks to readers. Prior to joining Wirecutter Money, she led social media for The Wall Street Journal Digital Network’s MarketWatch site. Her expertise ranges from buying a new condo in San Francisco for less than $300k (a feat for one of the most expensive cities in the world) to living without a wallet to sharing knowledge on the etiquette of splitting credit card rewards.

In 2013, she created the site TheDroneGirl.com, where she was one of the first journalists to focus on reporting on drones. She has been quoted as an expert in publications including The New York Times and Consumer Reports, and has spoken at dozens of events, including at South by Southwest (SXSW) and at Harvard Business School.

Sally was also named one of Fortune Magazine’s “4 top women shaping the drone industry.”

Fitness, health and more

Sally is also an accomplished powerlifter, and currently holds three USPA American records. She shares her love of fitness currently as a group fitness instructor at Equinox, and previously volunteered at the YMCA.

She’s also an advocate for the arts, currently volunteering at the Walt Disney Family Museum.
